You value good mental health and want resources, including crocheting, to help you maintain the balance
What if you didn't have to search for tutorials to know which step to take next?
All my tutorials are video instructions showing you exactly what you need do to achieve each stitch and which stitch to learn next.
Our zoom calls and facebook community page are fully monitored. Anyone breaking the rules will be dealt with severely
Want to work on crochet projects that are good for the mind?
In Crochet 4 Calm you can work at your own pace. Accomplished crocheters can use it as meditation too
Research has consistently demonstrated the positive effects of engaging in creative activities, such as crochet, on mental health. One study published in 2010 found that "creative activities, including crochet, can be effective in reducing anxiety, depression, and stress, as well as enhancing mood and self-esteem" (Tse et al.). This research suggests that crochet can serve as a powerful tool for improving our emotional well-being
This club has been a dream of mine for a very long time. I started Conquer Crochet as a way to support a friend who was suffering with mental health issues. It soon became clear that she wasn't the only one who needed help. I wanted to create a community of crocheters who could each play a role in supporting others as well as their own mental health.
My beginner crochet course will take you step by step through the basic crochet stitches with patterns to make along the way. Make sure to check them out even if you are not a beginner. They make great gifts!
Each month has a new stitch tutorial which can be worked as a stand alone project or joined with other stitches to create a larger project.
The Brain Box is your go to place when you want help to manage and maintain your mental health. Each month you will receive a new resource - for example, this could be a guided meditation or mindful activity.
There are private groups within the club so you can connect outside of social media.
There is also currently a private Facebook group. The Facebook group is only open to current members and is fully monitored to ensure respect is shown to all members.
Every month you will have the opportunity to ask me questions directly which I will answer either in a video or a live session on Facebook.
Every month we will have a Zoom get together. Being part of a community is one of the 5 pillars of mental health. You'll be able to chat with fellow crocheters and be part of something bigger. Don't forget to bring your crochet!
You can cancel your membership at anytime but due to the nature of digital products, refunds are not permitted.
Each month you will find in the club site:
stitch tutorials
A brain box mental health resource
Community call - currently on Zoom
Q&A session
Private Facebook Group
On site community discussion groups
From time to time, additional resources may be added either as a result of a Q & A question from you or something I think will be useful for you during that month.
I am not a mental health expert. I have, however, worked with children in schools on various mental health strategies for maintaining good mental health. I also carry out my own personal research into different strategies and try them out to see what works.
Simple answer is, no! Whilst you can curate your own crochet journey from YouTube videos, Crochet 4 Calm is more than just another crochet course. It's about the community. Making lifelong connections with people on your wavelength. Using the resources to help maintain good mental health AND learning to crochet from carefully curated tutorials which won't leave you overwhelmed and lost.
I can't guarantee you will be able to crochet. Everyone I've taught has been able to crochet but they were willing to put in the time to learn. If you put in the practice then everyone should be able to crochet.
No. It is for everyone who is interested in crochet and mental health. There are no complicated patterns. This club is about connection and mindfulness. Doing away with the stresses of following a complicated pattern
